UTL - MISSION

The Unity of The Light web site lists these four things as its mission.

Serve the World — Serve the City — Serve the Church — Serve Education

Each one is noble in its own right, but this approach is like putting the cart before the horse. These are the paths that all of the great world religions have followed for centuries.

While some good has been achieved, these approaches have now reached their limit of effectiveness, because they are all outward looking while ignoring the greater inner need for soul growth and wisdom. The Teaching Mission has been advocating the tremendous need on this planet for more soul growth and wisdom.

Nearly all our current rligions focus on building a roof without first building the walls. The end result of this approach is that it creates a top heavy religion resulting in top heavy civilisation, dominated by powerful men at the top and their top down control systems (governments, armies, banks, institutions etc). Why is this so?

Because all the religions of today focus on worship and ignore wisdom. When you stop at worship and don't take the next step and connect it securely to wisdom, then you leave the door open for worship to get diverted and distorted into a system for serving man made authorities. Today's world is drowning in this very situation. We are drowning in worship styles of every kind, and all are lacking adequate wisdom. The churches of today make worship the final destination, but worship is in reality but a stepping stone to wisdom.

  • The religion of Jesus is inward looking.
  • The religion of Jesus is a bottom up approach that respects everyone's free will.
  • The religion of Jesus is about individual soul growth.
  • The religion of Jesus is about spiritual growth.
  • The religion of Jesus is about following the path of worship all the way to wisdom.

Religion and church, to be most effective must first focus and direct its efforts inward. It must feed the flock.

  1. Feeding the flock promotes soul growth.
  2. Soul growth leads to wisdom and spiritual growth.
  3. Spiritual growth leads to wise outreach.
  4. Wise outreach leads to the preservation of free will.
  5. The preservation of free will opens the door to the Kingdom of Heaven.

When religion and church focuses on Serving the World — Serving the City — Serving the Church — Serving Education, it is getting ahead of itself. It's an inverted process.

When we turn this top heavy process upside down and anchor it from the bottom, we get the following:

Serve the disciple — Serve the flock — Serve the church — Serve mankind
